AMENDMENT: A FRIGATEBIRD species was reported from the mile marker 2 area of the Garden State Parkway seen around 2:40 pm, yesterday, 6/29. The bird was seen drifting toward the ocean and has not been reported again since the initial sighting.
The SANDHILL CRANE that has been frequenting the Beaver Swamp WMA was reported today 6/29.
This morning, 6/29, a sub-adult MISSISSIPPI KITE was seen over the Cape May Point State Park flying toward the Meadows, around 9:30 am. A second report of MISSISSIPPI KITE today was of an adult bird seen from Buckshutem WMA near Millville around 12:00 pm. The bird was reported to be seen near the irregular shaped field along Rt. 698 in the WMA.
A PARASITIC JAEGER was seen from St. Mary’s jetty area on 6/27.
WILSON’S STORM-PETRELS continue to be seen from Cape May Point this week. Today, 6/29 a few were seen from the St. Peter’s jetty area. As well, the ROSEATE TERN continues and was on the beach, also seen from St. Peter’s.
On 6/28 a GREATER SHEARWATER was seen from St. Mary’s and a possible MANX SHEARWATER was seen today, 6/29 from the same area.
The breeding plumage BLACK TERN was found again yesterday, 6/28 in the Bunker Pond vicinity.
