Volunteer to be a Reading Buddy at the Parkville Branch (Spring 2018)

The Parkville-Carney Branch seeks volunteers ages 12 to 17 for its Reading Buddies program, which pairs teen volunteers with kids in grades 1 to 4 who need extra practice to become proficient readers. If you like working with younger students and would like to earn service learning hours, please apply by Wednesday, January 17, 2018.

Reading Buddies will be offered on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from February 5 through March 29.. Volunteers will meet with their junior buddy one hour each week at the Parkville-Carney Branch. Training is provided.

To apply, please download and return your completed application to the Parkville-Carney Branch or visit the branch in-person to pick up a paper application.

Volunteer for Friends Support Groups

Branch Support Groups are important volunteer support groups for Baltimore County Public Library. They provide community outreach for specific branches and advocacy for their neighborhood branch. They organize fundraising events and bring additional talent, expertise, and financial support to their community branch. Not all branches have friends groups.  For more information or to get involved, contact your local Friends: Branch Support Group.

Volunteer for Summer @ Your Library

Summer @ Your Library volunteers are students entering grades seven to ten in the fall of each year. They help promote the program, sign-up children and give out stickers and prizes, and more. Our branches will resume accepting applications for Summer @ Your Library volunteers in spring 2018.

Volunteer for Branch-Specific Assignments

Various volunteer assignments are sometimes available at individual branches. To verify that a volunteer opportunity is available, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at the library branch where you would like to work. The branches cannot guarantee that there will be work available at all times and are under no obligation to accept volunteers.
