Windows 2000 Connection Guide
The following instructions and illustrations are provided
to assist you in setting up your computer to connect to BCPL.NET.
Please follow these instructions carefully and in order.
These instructions are just one way of configuring Windows 2000. If
you are unable to establish a connection after following these instructions,
please call the BCPL.NET Internet Help Desk at 410-887-3297.
Double click My Computer located on the desktop.
Double click the Control Panel.
Double click Network and Dialup Connections.
Sometimes Windows will start the Network Connection Wizard for you.
If it doesn't do this then you can start it manually by double clicking
Make New Connection.
You may see a welcome screen that tells you what you have started and
displays a Next and a Cancel button at the bottom.
If there are no boxes to type in, just click Next.
Put a black dot next to Dial-up to the Internet.
Click Next.

manually, or i want to connect through a local area network (LAN).
Click Next.
Put a black dot next to I connect through a phone line and a modem.
Click Next.
Leave Area code blank.
In the telephone number box, type 4102965500 or *70, 4102965500 (if you have call waiting).
There should be no check next to Use area code and dialing rules.
Click Next.

| Type in your username next to User name (ex: jdoe).
Type in your password next to Password
(NOTE: you will not see the actual password being typed).
Click Next.
Under Connection Name, type BCPL.
Click Next.
Next it will ask you if you would like to setup your Internet Mail account.
You can select Yes to setup your Internet mail.
Select No to finish setting up the BCPL connection, and click Next.

Uncheck To connect to the Internet . . .
Click Finish.
Right-click BCPL and select Properties.
Click the Networking tab.
In the white box in the middle of the window, there should be something that says Internet Protocol
(TCP/IP). Click on it once to highlight it.
Click Properties.

Click the Advanced button.
Click the DNS tab.
Make sure there is a dot next to Append these DNS suffixes . . .
Click Add.
In the Domain suffix box, type bcpl.net.
Click Add.
Make sure Register this connection's addresses in DNS is unchecked.
Click OK.
Click OK again.
Click OK a third time.
Now you are ready to test the connection.

Testing the Connection
| In Network and Dialup Connections, double click the BCPL icon.
A Connect To window will appear.
Make sure your username or password are entered in this dialog box.
Click Dial.

If everything is correctly configured, you will see a window indicating
that you are connected.
If you do not see this, look at the task bar near the clock and see if there
is an icon with two computer screens or a modem: if so, you are connected.
If you do not see this, double click the BCPL icon again.
It will either tell you that you are connected or prompt you to try to connect again.
You have now established a connection with BCPL. You may now run a web
browser, e-mail program, etc.
If you have followed these directions carefully and in order, and still
cannot establish a connection with BCPL, please call the BCPL.NET Internet
Help Desk at 410-887-3297.
