INTERMITTANT USENET NEWS ACCESS

The following has been received from ABSnet.  The work described may
result in intermittant outages in access to Usenet News for a while.  It
will NOT have any other effect on connectivity to or from BCPL. 

  "Due to a security issue with news that would allow clients the ability
to execute shell level commands, we have upgraded the server to the most
recent version.  It appears there may be a few glitches to get worked out
yet, so if you notice problems please let us know." 

  "Also FYI, we will be upgrading one of our core routers at some point
over the weekend, so you may see a short term outtage in service that
shouldn't last more than 15-20 minutes tops."
