------------------------------------------ ACCESS SERVER PROBLEMS, THURSDAY AUGUST 21 ------------------------------------------ We are experiencing a problem with all seven of our Cisco AS5200 access servers which causes them to reboot due to bus errors at irregular intervals. The problem began some time Wednesday night, and it appears as if the interval between reboots is becoming shorter as time goes on. When an access server reboots, everyone connected to us via that access server gets disconnected. This explains the unexpected disconnects many of you have reported this morning. I am working with Cisco Systems' Technical Assistance Center to resolve the problem. The bus errors on all seven access servers occurs at exactly the same memory address, which probably indicates an operating system bug rather than a hardware problem. Cisco TAC is currently analyzing the situation, and should be getting back to me soon with a solution. I will post progress reports to BCPL System News when we know more about the situation. ------------------------------------------------------------------- If you have questions about this, or about anything else related to your BCPL Internet Account, please contact the BCPL Help Desk.
