ACCESS SERVER UPGRADES, TUESDAY JANUARY 6

Cisco Systems, the manufacturer of our access servers, believe they have
found the bug that has been causing access server "dialup-1" to reboot due
to bus errors. The solution is a new operating system version, which will
be installed on Tuesday.  At the same time we will also upgrade the
K56FLEX modems in dialup-1 to the latest firmware version.

The K56FLEX modems for the rest of the access servers have arrived much
earlier than expected.  If dialup-1 responds well to the new operating
system and modem firmware, then we will begin upgrading dialup-2 through
dialup-7 to K56FLEX on Tuesday.  This work will continue on Wednesday if
necessary. 

The access servers will be taken off line one at a time in order to
perform the upgrades.  If the access server through which you are
connected is taken off line, then you will lose your connection.  If this
happens, please call right back.  Your call will be taken by one of the
other access servers. 

We will post another System News message as soon as all the upgrades are
completed.

Several weeks ago we ordered an additional access server to expand the
modem pool. The shipping date was expected to be on or about January 20,
but the unit has already arrived!  Unfortunately we scheduled installation
of two PRI lines by Bell Atlantic to coincide with the January 20 shipping
date.  We can't use the new access server until the PRI lines are
installed, so Bell Atlantic is trying to schedule an earlier installation
date for us.

Once the new access server is installed, our 410-296-5500 modem pool will
have a total of 368 modems, all K56FLEX. We'll keep you posted on this via
System News.
