-------------------------------------- NEW E-MAIL ADDRESS FORMAT NOW OFFICIAL -------------------------------------- As mentioned in System News on March 15, the official Internet domain name for everything associated with BCPL.NET Internet Services is now BCPL.NET. One of the many advantages is that you can now shorten your e-mail address to "user@bcpl.net". It is now time to implement that phase of the project. In order to use the new address format you must make a few minor configuration changes in your e-mail software. For more information on this, point your Web browser at: http://www.bcpl.net/help/newdom.html That Web page provides general background information on the change, and contains a link to specific instructions on making the necessary changes in your e-mail program. The instruction pages can also be accessed from the Help Desk's technical support index at: http://www.bcpl.net/help/techsupport Please read the instructions even if you are already using the new address format! You may find something you didn't know. Reconfiguring your e-mail software to use the new address format affects only the e-mail address that appears on the "From:" line in your outgoing mail. It does not prevent e-mail addressed the old way from being delivered to you. Currently e-mail addressed any of the following ways will be delivered correctly to "John Doe": jdoe@mail.bcpl.lib.md.us jdoe@bcpl.lib.md.us jdoe@mail.bcpl.net jdoe@bcpl.net However the new "jdoe@bcpl.net" format is now the only official one. Please reconfigure your mail program to use the "jdoe@bcpl.net" format as soon as possible, and notify your e-mail correspondents of your new address. E-mail sent to you using any of the other address formats will be delivered correctly in the foreseeable future, but we cannot guarantee that this will be true forever. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please contact the BCPL.NET Help Desk if you have questions about the contents of this System News message or about anything else related to your account.
