------------------ ACCESS SERVER DOWN ------------------ At 7:34 PM this evening (Thursday, December 3) one of our dialup access servers crashed. This took 46 modems out of service, leaving us with 414 modems and creating a major busy signal problem. I was home at the time (yes, I do go home occasionally) so I had the Help Desk staff reboot the access server, but it refused to come back up. I'll see what I can do with it on Friday morning. If it can't be coaxed back to life, I can substitute a new access server that is currently in storage waiting for Bell Atlantic to install phone lines for it. One way or another, we should have our full pool of 460 modems back in operation by Friday afternoon. Sorry about the inconvenience.
