DOWN TIME THURSDAY APRIL 29

We have just received word from Sun Microsystems that a technician will
arrive at about 1:30 PM today to begin the installation of additional hard
disks in our primary UNIX computer (mail.bcpl.net).  This will require
that the computer be shut down for about 30 minutes. While it is down, no
services dependent on it will be available.

BCPL.NET Customers:  For all intents and purposes it will be impossible to
use BCPL.NET Internet accounts during that time.

BCPL Branch Libraries:  During the down time PCs in the branches will not
be able to access e-mail, CARLweb, the BCPL Web site, or Novelist.  Access
to other Web sites and Web-based databases will probably be much slower
than usual, if they work at all.

We apologize for the interruption in service, and for the very short
notice, but this is unavoidable.  We received short notice ourselves, and
cannot reschedule the service visit.
