LIBRARY CLOSED FOR Y2K CONVERSION

All branches of the Baltimore County Public Library will be closed Friday,
May 14, Saturday, May 15, and Sunday, May 16 to allow us to upgrade
computers and databases for Year 2000 compliance.

The following online services will be shut down beginning at 9:30 PM,
Thursday, May 13, and may remain unavailable until 12 Noon, Monday, May
17, 1999.

o No access to BCPL Shelf Help (telephone renewals).
o No access to online patron information.
o No access to the BCPL online library catalog.
o No access to the Community Information File.
o No access to databases that require validation of BCPL library card
  information.
o Holds/reserves cannot be placed.
o Interlibrary Loan materials cannot be processed.

The following online services WILL be available:

o Dial-up access to BCPL.NET Internet accounts, including e-mail, Web,
  Usenet News, and all other normal Internet services.  There may be
  short interruptions, but for the most part the weekend will be business
  as usual for BCPL.NET customers.
o The BCPL.NET Internet Services Help Desk will be open normal hours.
o Access to the Library Web pages (www.bcplonline.org), with the exception
  of Web-based databases that require a library card for access.
o Access to Web pages belonging to BCPL.NET customers
  (www.bcpl.net/~username).
