---------------------------- PROBLEM REPORT 11 MARCH 1977 ---------------------------- When it rains, it pours... We lost our connection to ABSnet (and consequently to news.abs.net, the news server) for a while today due to a T1 line failure. We were able to route around the problem, but the temporary connection wasn't as fast or as reliable as the normal connection so many users found it impossible to read Usenet News. Metropolitan Fiber Systems brought the ABSnet T1 line back up at about 6:00 PM, and it has been stable since then. In addition, we lost an ethernet interface on one of our main routers early in the afternoon, cutting off that segment from the rest of the network. The problem was discovered and repaired quickly, but for a short period it was impossible to connect to the rest of the Internet from some of our dial-up access servers.
