Three items about Usenet News access from BCPL:
 
First, the news server at ABSnet (news.abs.net) went down early yesterday
evening (January 14), cutting off our access to Usenet News.  It bounced
up and down a few times this morning, but seems to be solidly back up now.
 
Second, we have reconfigured our routers to provide a more direct route to
ABSnet.  This should speed up news reading considerably.
 
Third, please remember that any problems related to newsgroups should be
reported to the BCPL Help Desk (oz@mail.bcpl.lib.md.us or 410-887-3297),
not to the ABSnet Help Desk.  Our agreement with ABSnet requires that our
Help Desk should be the first contact point for news problems, and that
any contact with ABSnet must be from our Help Desk.
