------------------- "NAUGHTYROBOT" HOAX ------------------- Several users have called or written to express concern about an e-mail message they received that begins like this: "This message was sent to you by NaughtyRobot, an Internet spider that crawls into your server through a tiny hole in the World Wide Web." The message goes on to claim that "NaughtyRobot" has extracted your e-mail address, home address, telephone number, credit card numbers, and other personal information from our server. It recommends, among other things, that you contact the credit card companies to void your existing cards and request new ones. "NaughtyRobot" is a hoax! With the exception of your e-mail address, none of the personal information said to have been stolen is stored on any of our servers. In order for "NaughtyRobot" to access that information, it would have to jump out of our network cable, crawl across the floor, open a filing cabinet, find your original application form, memorize it, close the filing cabinet, crawl back across the floor, and jump back into the network cable. I'm pretty sure we would have noticed all those little electronic robots crawling around the office...
