---------------------------------------- NEW GOODIES FOR UNIX SHELL ACCOUNT USERS ---------------------------------------- We have installed several new programs and commands: Pine 3.93 --------- This new version of the Pine mail program adds a number of new features and fixes many bugs. Start it up as usual by entering "pine" at the UNIX prompt. A summary of the new features can be displayed by pressing "R" (for release notes) at Pine's main menu. If for any reason you prefer to continue using the old version (3.91), you may do so by entering "pine391" at the UNIX prompt instead of "pine". Pico 2.7 -------- This new version of the Pico text editor is primarily a bug-fix release. Start it up by entering "pico" at the UNIX prompt. Pilot 1.1 --------- This is a new program based on the "To Files" feature in Pine. Pilot provides an easy way to manage your files on the UNIX host. Enter "pilot" at the UNIX prompt, and Pilot will display a list of the files in your home directory. Use the arrow keys to move around, and use the commands at the bottom of the screen to view text files, launch scripts and other executables, delete files, rename files, copy files, and edit text files. SysNews ------- Enter "sysnews" at the UNIX prompt to start up the Lynx Web browser and go automatically to BCPL's "System News" Web page. There you will find an archive of all System News messages issued from January 1996 to the present. This replaces the old "allnews" command, which caused problems for some people. Now if tou enter "allnews" you will actually be running "sysnews". Help ---- Enter "help" at the UNIX prompt to start up the Lynx Web browser and automatically go to BCPL's Web-based Help pages. Our Help pages ae still under construction, so check often for new items.
