NEWS.ABS.NET CONTINUES TO HAVE PROBLEMS

As reported in System News on March 25, the ABSNet news server 
(news.abs.net) suffered a hard disk crash on Saturday, March 23.  The 
server appeared to come back up on Wednesday, March 27, but it has been 
going up and down like a yo-yo since then.  When it is up, the number of 
available news groups is very limited.
 
We will let you know via another System News message as soon as we hear
from the folks at ABSNet that their news server is back in full
production. Until then the best we can say is that attempts to read Usenet
News may or may not be successful, depending on the current status of
news.abs.net.
