SESSION TIME LIMIT INCREASED

On February 16 we imposed a time limit of two hours per session on the
296-5500 modem pool as a temporary measure to reduce the frequency of busy
signals.
 
On February 29 we completed phase one of our modem pool expansion project
by installing the first 48 of our new modems on 296-5500. 
 
Since then we have been monitoring the modem pool, and find that busy
signals are now a serious problem only during peak evening hours.  We
believe it is still too early to completely remove the session time limit,
so instead we have increased it to three hours.  This will continue to
ease the busy signal problem, but will help those of you with legitimate
needs for longer sessions. 
 
As promised, the limit will be removed when the remaining 64 new modems 
are installed on or about March 15.
