ENDLESS RING ON 296-5500

Many users have called to report an endless ring with no answer when they
dial in through 296-5500.  We became aware of the problem on Tuesday
(March 5) and were able to determine that four of our incoming phone lines
are dead.  This indicates a problem somewhere between BCPL and the local
Bell Atlantic central office.  The problem was reported to Bell Atlantic,
but as of the time I am writing this (Wednesday, March 6, 6:10 PM) they
have not been able to repair the lines.
 
We hope the problem will be found and corrected very soon, because we 
know the ring with no answer is frustrating to our callers.  As always,
