------------------------------------- NEW FOR PERL PROGRAMMERS: 15 JAN 1996 ------------------------------------- Several months ago we installed Perl 5.0.1 for those of you who wanted a programming language more advanced than simple shell scripting but not as complex as the C language. Unfortunately we were not able to install the manual pages for Perl, so would-be Perl programmers had no documentation unless they bought a book. As of today we finally have the Perl manual pages available online. The Perl manual is divided into 25 sections. The first section, which is an overview of Perl, may be read by entering "man perl" at the UNIX prompt. The names of the remaining 24 sections are listed at the beginning of the overview. Our thanks to Jim Spath for providing the source files for the Perl manual.
