USE OF THE /tmp DIRECTORY

It is common practice on UNIX systems to use the /tmp directory for
temporary storage of files which exceed the disk quota specified for each
user's home directory (5 MB, in our case).  Such usage of /tmp is allowed
on this system, but only within the guidelines explained in the README.TMP
file located in the /tmp directory.  README.TMP has just been revised, so
please read it if you intend to use the /tmp directory for any purpose.
