This cut off communications between most of our internal networks and our gateway router. If you are a BCPL.NET customer who was trying to dial into BCPL.NET while the problem existed, the symptoms you experienced depended on which of our access servers you connected to. In most cases you would have experienced log in failures, and would not have been able to complete the connection. In other cases you may have been able to log in and access e-mail, Usenet News, and the BCPL.NET Web site, but could not access anything out on the rest of the Internet. If you are a BCPL staff member arriving at work while the problem existed, the symptoms you experienced depended on where your PC is on our internal networks. In most cases you were probably able to log onto the network, but couldn't access your e-mail, IMDS, or anything out on the Internet. The problem was discovered when we arrived at work Friday morning, and was corrected at about 8:30 AM by moving the faulty connection to a different Gigabit Ethernet interface. Sorry about the interruption! Chip -- BCPL.NET INTERNET SERVICES 320 York Road Towson, MD 21204-5179 U.S.A.
