So far the decisions the Barracuda has made regarding spam have been implemented globally. This means that what the Barracuda thinks is spam for one customer, it will think is spam for all customers. This seems to work out fairly well for most customers (especially for the most obvious spam), but we know some customers don't always agree with how the Barracuda decides what is and is not spam. To solve this problem, the Barracuda can also classify messages on a per-user basis. This requires the use of the Barracuda's "quarantine account" feature. If quarantining is enabled for your e-mail address, you can log directly into the Barracuda to fine-tune your personal spam settings and to classify quarantined mail as SPAM or NOT SPAM. This improves the Barracuda's future accuracy by forcing the Barracuda to add or subtract points to the spam score applied to your e-mail based on your personal SPAM and NOT SPAM classifications. Who should sign up for the Barracuda quarantine? Here are some points to consider: o There is no advantage to having a Barracuda Quarantine account if you already receive very little spam, or if you are satisfied with the way the Barracuda Spam Firewall currently deals with the spam you do receive. o A Barracuda Quarantine account is most effective for experienced users who receive more spam than they can tolerate and want to exercise more personal control over how the Barracuda Spam Firewall identifies what e-mail is and is not spam. o A Barracuda Quarantine account requires regular maintenance by you. If you are unable or unwilling to check it regularly, you should not sign up for a Barracuda Quarantine account. For a detailed description of what is involved in having a Barracuda Quarantine account, please see our Barracuda User's Guide at the following URL: www.bcpl.net/help/barracuda/ Please do not sign up for a Barracuda Quarantine account unless you have read that document carefully.
