I, Sallie Farmer Goodman, of Cumberland County, Virginia, being of sound and disposing mind and memory, do hereby make, publish and declare this to be my last will and testament, hereby revoking all wills by me at any time heretofore made.
1st I desire all my just debts to be paid.
2nd I give and bequeath to my daughter, Agnes Westmoreland, three Hundred
Dollars ($300.00).
3rd I give and devise unto my son, Elmore Goodman, in fee simple, the tract
of land upon which I now reside, and also all my furniture, household goods,
farming implements, located on said parcel of land.
4th Should there be any money left after paying all my debts, belonging
to my estate, and after paying the above mentioned Three Hundred Dollars
to Agnes Westmoreland, I give and bequeath all of the money then remaining,
including money on deposit in banks, unto my daughter, Belender Mallay,
my son John Goodman, my son, Elmore Goodman, and Joe Goodman, the wife
of my son Elmore Goodman, in equal shares
I hereby appoint my son, Elmore Goodman, Executor of this my will, and I direct that no security shall be required of him upon his qualification as such executor. Given under my hand and seal this the 5th day of May, 1947 Mrs. Sallie Farmer Goodman (Seal)
The above signature of the testatrix was made and the foregoing will was acknowledged to be her last will and testament by the said testatrix, in the presence of us, two competent witnesses, present at the same time, and we, the said witnesses, do hereunto subscribe the said will on the date last above written, in the presence of the said testatrix and of each other, at the request of the said testatrix, who was then of sound mind and over the age of twenty-one years.

In the office of the clerk of the Circuit Court for the county of Cumberland, this the 23rd day of August, 1947: It appearing to the clerk of the aforesaid court that Mrs. Sallie Farmer Goodman, sometimes written and known as Mrs. J.B. Goodman, departed this life on the 31st day of July, 1947, and at the time of her death did have a mansion-house and known place of residence in the county of Cumberland, Virginia, and a paper-writing bearing date on the 5th day of May, 1947, purporting to be the true last will and testament of the said Mrs. Sallie Farmer Goodman, was produced before the aforesaid clerk in office and proven according to law by the oath of Miss Mary E. Godsey and Mrs. Louise Meinhard, the two subscribing witnesses thereto: Therefore, on motion of Elmore Goodman, , he executor therein named who made oath that he verily believe the said writing to contain the true last will and testament of the said Mrs. Sallie Farmer Goodman, deceased, it is ordered that the said writing be and the same is hereby established, probated and admitted to record as and for the true last will and testament of the said Mrs. Sallie Farmer Goodman, deceased, And Whereupon the said Elmore Goodman is this day duly appointed, on his motion, as the executor of the estate of the aforesaid Mrs. Sallie Farmer Goodman, deceased, and he the said Elmore Goodman, personally appeared before the aforesaid clerk and qualified as such by taking the oath as the law directs and entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of $1,500.00 conditioned and payable as the law direct, no security being required as the will so provides, and the said bond have been duly approved by the said clerk it is ordered to be recorded. And the said Elmore Goodman is granted certificate for obtain probate of said will in due form of law. It is ordered that W.B. Walker, C. B. Palmore, J. M. Putney Jr., Thornton Holman and J. W. Palmore, or any three of them being duly sworn for the purpose do truly and justly appraise in current money the personal property of the aforesaid Mrs. Sallie Farmer Goodman, deceased and make their return under their hands as the law directs.
VIRGINIA: In the clerk’s Office of the Circuit Court of the County of Cumberland, Estate of Sallie Farmer Goodman, deceased. I, the undersigned, who this day qualified before the Clerk of the Circuit Court of the County of Cumberland, as Executor of the Estate of Mrs. Sallie Farmer Goodman, deceased, late of the County of Cumberland, Virginia, on my oath do any that I have made diligent inquiry and that I believe the following to be true and correct list together with the ages and the addresses of the heirs of my decedent Mrs. Sallie Farmer Goodman who died testate on July 31, 1947.

To the Circuit Court of the County of Cumberland: On the 15 day of Oct. 1948, Elmo Goodman Exor. of Sally Frances Goodman Decd, exhibited before me a statement of all the money which he, the and Admr. had received or become chargeable with and had disbursed from the 27 day of Aug. 1947, to the 1 day of Oct. 1948 I embraced the said Exor. in the list of fiduciaries whose accounts were before me for settlement which list was posted at the front door of the Courthouse of the County Of Cumberland, on 4th day of Oct. 1945, that being the first Monday in Oct. 1948 On the day of this report more- than ten days having elapsed since the said list was so posted I made up and completed the following account, showing a balance due on the 1st day Oct. 1948, from Estate to the Exor. Of $4.48. The said account Is sustained by proper vouchers returned to Executor. The bond of the said Executor is In due and legal form, Insufficient penalty and with sufficient security.
