Greets, everybody!

I hope y'all had a good weekend. Mine was pretty decent. Jerry Doyle was in town this weekend; what a cornball. :-)

This turn proved to be pretty devastating, as I think you'll see when you read the following:

[from the N'Gharu]
You can forward this to everybody, and I hope they don't get mad. (8-)

---------

The wreckage of the K'sha D'tan drifted past the screen.

G'Don, captain of the N'Gharu, took a deep breath. Was this the taste of revenge? This bitter, cold, sick feeling, that formed at the pit of his stomach? The Kharee had wronged him, had wronged his crew, but was revenge worth this? A shattered task force? Hundreds of Narn killed in this fleet engagement? Thousands of Narn killed in the destruction of the colony? What was this madness?

The helmsman turned toward him, cold hatred in his eyes. G'Don found it easy to believe that the rest of his crew, once united in their drive for revenge, now hated him as well. And only one way to redemption.

"Helm, status of both sides."

The helmsman turned slowly back to the console, training and duty barely wining over emotion. "We have a heavy cruiser, a destroyer, and a escort cruiser remaining operational. The Centauri light forces are mostly intact, though all of their heavier ships have been destroyed. The Centauri base, while heavily damaged, is still intact."

G'Don noticed the subtle change of tone. 'We have a heavy cruiser...The Centauri light forces...'

Pause. "Helm, Ku'Hru is opening a jump point, yes?"

"Yes, Captain. Do you wish us to chase him down?"

Pause. Commitment. Atonement. "No. Open a jump point at the same co-ordinates. The others will understand. They may even survive."

That brought the helmsman around with a shock. "Sir, that will kill us!"

G'Don nodded. "And kill the Centauri too. Destroy the base that the Centauri are using to pursue their war against Homeworld. Doesn't G'Quon mention the beauty of fire? We will spread beauty; and, maybe, someday they will forgive us." Another pause. "The last order: Activate jump engines. And set comms to hail everything in system."

The helmsman turned, activated the comms system. A short prayer.

G'Don spoke briefly, quietly. The jump engines activated.

The beauty scattered across the system.

------------
Transmission to all vessels:

"Fire to cleanse souls. Beauty to cleanse hearts. So I die."

End Transmission.

At 60,40 a shimmer occurs in space, and a monstrously large bowl of petunias appear. Seeing what is about to occur they mutter to themselves, "Oh no, not again..."

And thus it ends. I opted not to do up a complete detection report; it would be a moot effort. For those of you who are unfamiliar with what's happened here, I refer you to the SO-05 Earth Force Starship Operations Procedural Manual, Document 17, Section 42.B.5, entitled "Things NOT To Do With Your Jump Engines". See also reference in the index of the same document, "Bonehead Maneuver".

To sum up. The Ku'Hru opens a jump point. Jump point opens. The N'Gharu initiates jump point sequence and begins to open a jump point at the same location the Ku'Hru does. No matter how far the Ku'Hru manages to travel in hyper-space next turn, and no matter how everyone else decides to move this turn, the resultant explosion that will occur on Turn 8 will tear through every vessel in the area, and those in the vicinity in hyperspace. Scenario...ends.

I want to thank you all for playing. I, for one, enjoyed it (even with the mistakes I made). I would be very interested in feedback from all of you, players and lurkers alike. Any thoughts, opinions, comments, criticisms (constructive preferred ;-), and the like are welcome. I'll have my own write-up posted later on my views on things (eg, why the Narn did what they were doing earlier with their ships).

LURKER ALERT - New Scenario Beginning! I recently learned that Spring Break is upon probably many of you, and some of you lurkers probably won't get this 'til after you've returned, and I apologize, but I don't want to delay too long. The next scenario is going to begin soon (ideally I'd like to get things going by March 25th - that's two weeks from now, and will give me a brief break in the meantime ;-). I'm issuing a call for players - but I'd like this to be from the lurkers of this previous scenario who did not get the opportunity to play yet. Then, if there are still slots open, I'll open those up to the rest of you. Yes, this is going to be first come, first serve. I can't think of a fairer way to do it. The next scenario will be an Earth-Dilgar War scenario. More details to follow later (rest assured there won't be any Heavy Beam Weapons, no energy mines, etc).

As with this past scenario, I'll keep things on the Web again for alternate access (I know not everyone has access, so I will try to accomodate as best I can; you will get email for everything prior to it going on the Webpage). If you have a preference for which side you want to be on, please indicate so in your response for playing. If you still want to just lurk, not a problem. You players from the current scenario I'll automatically put on lurker status if you'd like. And then, the scenario which will follow this next one I'll open up to everyone (again, limited slots available, first come first serve, but I won't restrict it to lurkers or players specifically).

I've been having trouble getting mail to M Miserendino, so this'll probably bounce on him again. :-/

Mk
