INDEX -- access an old posting you missed or deleted

(NOTE -- This is NOT the same as the SET INDEX command) If you have missed some postings (if you are new to the Hounds, had turned off mail --see SET NOMAIL--, or had unsubscribed from and have resubscribed to the Hounds while on vacation and want to access prior postings you have missed), the postings to the Hounds are archived at Kent. These archives consist of the postings for a week (and so can be rather large files) with filenames "LOGyymmw" where yy=Year, mm=Month and w=Week (A,B,C,D) (e.g. LOG9604C is the filename for the postings of the third week in April, 1996). To get a listing of the currently available archives send the command:

index HOUNDS-L

You can have an archive (one week's postings) sent to you by sending the command:

get HOUNDS-L archive_name

e.g.

get HOUNDS-L LOG9604C
