GETPOST -- retrieve a specific message

If you know the number of a particular message stored on the Kent State Listserver, you may retrieve the entire text of that message by sending this command:

GETPOST HOUNDS-L messagenumber(s)

to LISTSERV@LISTSERV.KENT.EDU. messagenumber(s) may be one or more numbers and are shown as output to the SEARCH command or as part of the daily message sent to users who receive their messages in INDEX mode. For example, if you remember the phrase "Elementary, my dear Watson" appeared in a message sometime before September, 1996, you would send the following command: search "Elementary, my dear Watson" in hounds-l to 96/9/1 Here is the response:

You may retrieve the entire message sent on August 18, 1996, by sending the command: GETPOST HOUNDS-L 3498
Although not a GETPOST command, you can receive all messages posted for the current date by sending the command:
