(use in conjunction with GETPOST command) This command allows the user to search through all Hounds-L messages stored on the Kent State listserver since April, 1996. The search may be by date, or by any word contained within the message, including author or subject. The syntax of the command is:
SEARCH -- search through the archives for a particular topic or message where word1 or word2 may be any of the following: FROM date1 From this date TODAY From today TODAY-7 In the last 7 days TO date2 To this date WHERE SUBJECT CONTAINS xxxx Only this subject WHERE SENDER CONTAINS xxxx Only this author AND/OR Complex boolean operations are supported. Dates must be shown in Year/Month/Day order. Examples: SEARCH Hounds in HOUNDS-L FROM 97/1/15 TO 97/1/15 Search for all messages dated January 15, 1997 SEARCH "OJ Simpson" IN HOUNDS-L FROM 96/9/1 TO 96/12/31 Search for all messages containing OJ Simpson posted between September 1, 1996 and December 31, 1996 SEARCH Hounds in HOUNDS-L WHERE SUBECT CONTAINS Poe AND SENDER CONTAINS Blau Search all messages sent by Peter Blau which contain "Poe" as part of the subject of the message Note - If you want to search for a phrase rather than a single word, enclose the entire phrase in quotation marks. Example: SEARCH "Elementary, my dear Watson" in HOUNDS-L ALSO - case is important. "Elementary, my dear Watson" will produce matches; "Elementary, my dear watson" will not. This command is more complicated than the others.
