History

Welcome to the Rothschild/Hoffman Memorial Drop-In Center's Web Site.Dinosaur The Drop-In Center was formed approximately, in 1993, by Marty Hoffman. On September 23rd, 1998, Marty, unfortunately, passed away. Marty was a generous person who would go out of his way to bring joy to others. He has been and will continue to be missed. Marty received many honors in his life, including the Channel 13 salute, and he was to be presented with a Maryland's most beautiful people award, but passed on before that happened. Soon after that, Bob Katzen became director. He stayed a few years and now our director is Denise Camp.

Function of the Center

Hotdog A Drop-In center provides a place for people with disabilities to Socialize. In the spirit of our founder, ours offers free food. You can also play games, watch TV or VCR tapes, or play piano.
In addition, we have a program that offers information on medication, disabilities and government resources.
We are fellow consumers, who help each other, by relating to our peers, in a positive way, through sharing of our knowledge, experiences and thoughts. This center, however, is not a therapy group. The Rothschild/Hoffman Memorial Drop-In Center is not a substitute for your doctor or therapist, nor is it facilitated by a professionally trained leader.

Policies:

Dagwood Sandwich Verbal or Physical behavior that is threatening or intimidating will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to racial and ethnic slurs, and any derogatory comments about any group, even if meant in jest. Although the Rothschild/Hoffman Memorial Drop-In Center can not guarantee confidentiality, you are asked to use your rational adult judgement, when it comes to sharing personal information about your peers, outside the center.
Pizza
Because of our concern for the health of others, and because of fire regulations, the Drop-In Center prohibits smoking, in the building. However, if you must smoke, you may do it outside. Smokers are expected to act responsibly, by using the special tin cans, provided. The trash cans are not for cigarette remains.
Because the Drop-In Center is here to serve you, we welcome any suggestions on how the center may better help you to help yourself.
